Barrow boss reveals striker delay

"But I'm sure when he does come to us, he'll add a different dimension to what we've got." Barrow boss Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria.

The Bluebirds missed-out on their number one forward target this summer.

"We've got one or two irons in the fire now regarding strikers." Bayliss said.

"We just need to get them sorted this week because we're a little bit thread-bare up front. But these players are worth waiting for and when they do become available they will strengthen our squad."

Barrow striker Jason Walker will have to wait a while longer to earn a move to Championship side Doncaster Rovers after Tuesday's behind-closed-doors friendly against a Hull City XI was called-off.

Walker, last season's top scorer, is spending the week on trial with Sean O'Driscoll's side and was missing from the Bluebirds' 4-3 friendly win at Penrith.

Bayliss said: "You can see when Jason doesn't play that we lack a bit of legs and movement up front.

"If he goes, then good for him, I hope it works out for him. But if it doesn't happen then I will happily welcome him back and we'll build a forward team around Jason."

Bayliss handed a debut to trialist striker Darren Green in Tuesday night's win at Penrith.

Green, who scored Barrow's fourth goal, was signed by Stockport County after impressing for Preston College.

Carlos Logan, Sean Newton and Paul Rutherford were also on target for the Bluebirds.
