"We will speak to the chairman this week about maybe giving us a little bit of money for two or three or even four new players."

Bayliss is set to open talks with Marine striker Lee McEvilly this week.

McEvilly, 27, had a six-game loan spell at Holker Street last season, scoring once.

Bayliss has revealed this week that the former Cambridge and Rochdale forward had been playing with an undiagnosed leg break during his time with the club, which ended his brief spell with Grays Athletic earlier this season.

"He had a broken bone in his lower leg," he said. "He had the summer off but then went to Grays and didn't give himself enough time to rest it and the injury reoccurred."

"When he's fit he's a real handful. I don't think the people of Barrow saw the best of Lee."

The Bluebirds are currently two points from safety in the Blue Square Premier but have seven games in hand on Saturday's opponents Ebbsfleet United.

Bayliss said: "Lee is one of a number of players we have enquired about."

"I think the wing areas is a position we need to strengthen. We need to vary our attacking options."

The Bluebirds boss also said he "will learn" from his after-match fracas following the 2-0 home defeat by Kettering earlier this month.

Bayliss was fined by the club for his role in the brawl which was was sparked by an injury to Bluebirds striker Gregg Blundell at the end of the game.

He is now waiting on disciplinary action from the Football Association.

"I'm not a bad person," he said. "I over-stepped the mark and reacted very badly to a situation that happened on the pitch.

"In my eyes I was trying to look out for my players but I'm in a managerial position now and I can't be doing those kinds of things.

"The minute I stop being passionate about football I'll pack in but I've got to learn how to channel my passion and aggression in the right way," he added.
